When Is It Time to Begin Fighting Cellulite?

Fighting cellulite begins when we are young and vibrant!

When we are young, we just assume that our bodies will always look that way. We have fresh, youthful skin that is free of anything but the occasional blemish and we have no fear of wrinkles. Our bodies are toned and slim, with no fears of getting fat. But, as the years go by and we put on a pound or two every year, those pounds eventually add up to 10 or 20 pounds or more. And, if you are a woman, that fat often turns into cellulite. So, when is it time to begin fighting cellulite?

You don’t really want to worry about this when you are young, but you should. It is a good idea to begin fighting cellulite as soon as you are out of your teen years. By then, your body has stopped growing, and is actually beginning to deteriorate – as sad as that may seem! Then, when you add pregnancy into the equation, the toll on your body is enormous. During pregnancy, your body tries to hold on to fat and because of that, cellulite is created. These are simply fat storage cells that have grown a little out of control and start to look lumpy under your skin.

Fighting cellulite before you get pregnant, and certainly after, is important if you are to grow into middle age without lumpy legs or dimply buttocks. The best way to do it is to moisturize your skin and massage it vigorously as much as possible, especially during times of quick growth. If you are gaining weight at a great pace (like during pregnancy), or even if you are putting on a lot of muscle quickly, you will want to moisturize as much as possible to diminish the likelihood of fat deposits from settling into those pesky areas.

What Is Cellulite Therapy?

One of the buzzwords in the cosmetic industry lately has been cellulite therapy. Cellulite, as we all know, is the accumulation of fat cells under the skin. These aren’t “rolls of fat” like we would see on a man, or even on a woman is obese, but rather small, dimply areas of concentrated fat cells. Many women get this even when they are not particularly overweight – it is often just a side-effect of being a middle-aged woman.

Another type of woman who gets cellulite is one who is pregnant. Usually, the fat cells shrink after pregnancy and your body gets back to normal, or at least close to it. But, sometimes those fat cells stay there and every time you gain weight, they expand and become dimply again. This type of chronic cellulite requires cellulite therapy in order to get rid of it permanently.

There are professional ways to get rid of cellulite, although this type of cellulite therapy can be expensive and very painful. The old “fat sucking” machines of old – also known as liposuction – were developed to help women get rid of unsightly cellulite. Some prescription medications also claim to reduce the size of fat cells so that the appearance of cellulite is less. But, these are not as successful as some of the easiest and least expensive home remedies.

It actually doesn’t make sense that a cream, lotion, or oil could make a difference in something that exists only under your skin, but in the case of cellulite, it is true. Cellulite can be diminished in size and visibly removed altogether by using certain products that are made for that purpose. By massaging or rubbing these products into the affected areas, cellulite cells are coaxed into getting smaller and more mobile until they stop clumping together in the bulges you see on your legs, thighs, and stomach.

Most men don’t realize the problems women have with cellulite until they actually see a woman who doesn’t mind hiding it. Maybe they are at the beach and see someone in a bikini, someone who probably shouldn’t be wearing one and they turn to their wife and ask, “What is all that stuff on the back of her legs?” Since cellulite generally doesn’t happen to men, they have no idea what it is.

Cellulite, which often manifests itself as a cottage-cheese or dimply appearance on the back of a woman’s legs, on her abdomen, thighs, or butt, is not attractive. And, it often seems that no matter how great a body you have, as you get older, you will be prone to get more and more of it. Most women don’t start to look at a cellulite reduction treatment until someone makes a comment about their cellulite or they get a good look at their rear in the mirror.

There are several ways to reduce cellulite, but eliminating it altogether can be difficult, especially if it has been around for a long time. The easiest cellulite reduction treatment can usually be performed in your own home. By utilizing a massage and scrubbing technique, using lotions or oils that are specific for this function, you can usually loosen and disperse all of those fat cells that are clumping together and creating cellulite.

Some women will choose to undergo surgery to reduce cellulite, but this is by no means the most effective cellulite reduction treatment. In fact, some studies show that this kind of cellulite elimination only serves to kick your cellulite cells back into overdrive, so that they grow back faster and larger. If you can tackle this problem early, in your own home, you will be much better off.
